Nose: Sweet, stewed orchard fruits come through at first, reminiscent of a compote. Rich manuka honey and caramel follow with soft touches of spice. There is a little nose prickle, but not so much to interfere with the aromas.
Palate: Lots of gingerbread and sweet spices move across the palate at first, with cinnamon at the forefront. Multi-coloured peppercorns mixed with mincemeat and pastry develop a mince pie dusted with caster sugar. The fruits have dried and the whole whisky is very well balanced.
Finish: A sweet start is taken over by spices leaving a very long, spicy and dry finish.
